Jake’s journey from Green Beret and Army Aviator to Trauma and Crisis Counselor gives him a distinctive perspective as he partners with clients to help them achieve new heights in their personal and relational lives. Jake specializes in trauma recovery and crisis intervention, with expertise in Military Culture and a deep passion for serving Veterans and First Responders.
Jake’s experience includes serving as a Crisis Chaplain for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, first as a volunteer and now as a Staff Chaplain, providing essential support to deputies, their families, and inmates.
When he’s not working, Jake enjoys spending time with his family, serving his community, and supporting organizations that uplift Veterans and First Responders. He is honored to join clients on their path to healing and renewal through the power of faith, evidence-based therapy, and God’s grace.

Education & Credentials

Jake earned his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas, Jake utilizes proven methods such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and IMTT (Image Transformation Therapy) to support clients in overcoming past traumas and embracing their God-given potential.

With a steadfast commitment to fostering transformation, Jake integrates the power of God, a Christian perspective, and evidence-based techniques to guide individuals toward lasting healing and growth. His holistic approach fosters a safe and trusting environment where clients—whether individuals or couples—can address challenges such as anger management, relationship building, spiritual growth, sexuality, and conflict resolution. Grounded in his Christian faith, he views every client’s story as part of a greater journey and encourages the integration of faith in their healing process. His mission is to empower clients with the tools and spiritual guidance needed to overcome adversity, strengthen relationships, and experience transformative growth.

Shonte' Hamlett is a graduate student at Lamar University pursuing a Master’s in Counseling. She integrates her Christian faith with evidence-based approaches to create a compassionate, client-centered space for children, individuals, and families seeking healing and growth.
